Caribbean Nationals Make Queen's New Year List

Several Caribbean nationals are among those who have made the New Year`s Honors List of Queen Elizabeth, II.

Among the honorees were nationals from Barbados, Belize, St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda, Grenada, St. Lucia, Anguilla and Guyana who were presented with Orders of the British Empire, Commander (CBE), Officer (OBE) and Member (MBE).

Anguilla`s Right Reverend Leroy Errol Brooks was honored with an Order of the British Empire for services to the community in Anguilla as was Guyanese Mohamad Rashied for services to Community Relations in London.

From Bermuda, Larry Thomas Dennis, the island`s former Auditor General was honored with a CBE for services to good governance in Bermuda while Olga May Scott, also of Bermuda, was given an OBE for services to the health, education and development of Bermuda`s youth.

In Antigua and Barbuda, Cordel Eden Alexander Josiah and Myrna Loretta Byron-Scholl were both honored with MBE`s for public service.

Barbados` Lawrence Vernon Harcourt Lewis was honored with the Order of St Michael And St George for services to the financial and public sectors while CBE`s were given to Maria Aneta Violetta Asgill,  for services to health care; Montague Delisle Fitzcrichlow Barrow, for services to the community and musician Joseph Nathanial Niles for services to gospel music.

OBE`s were presented to Hugh Anthony Arthur for service to tourism; Earl Wensley Glasgow, for services to education and to the Barbadian Diaspora in New York and Lucy Andrea Adelle Gollop-Greenidge, for services to the performing arts while MBE`s were presented to Neville Nigel Pinder, for services to the Barbados Water Authority; Cora Frances Holder-Waldron, for services to education and the Teachers` Credit Union and to Shelly Elizabeth Weir, for services as a community activist.

From Belize, the honorees were: Manuel Esquivel, for services to politics and to good governance; Henry Vallon, for services to politics and to entrepreneurship; Reverend Charles David Goff, for services to religion; Romel Tiburcio Perdomo, for services to business and to entrepreneurship; Eulogio Cano, for services to teaching and to social development; Antonio Duncan McPherson, for services to the community; Kenneth Wilfred Morgan, for services to culture and to entertainment; Samuel Alexander Rhaburn, for services to politics and Philip Norman Timmons,  for services to the Police and to the community.

Grenada`s Franklyn Theodore St Bullen Bernard was presented the OBE for services to business while the MBE was presented to Susanna Antoine, for services to education; to Elwyn McQuilkin, for services to culture and to Jason Roberts, for services to sport.

The honorees in St. Kitts and Nevis were  Edmund Wickham Lawrence, for services to Banking and Finance; Charles Lucien Arthur Wilkin, for services to the Law; Goldwin O Caines, for public service and Lt Col Norman Leroy Williams, for services to national security.

St. Lucia`s Dr. Dunstan Gerbert Raphael St Omer, was honored for services to art.
