How should a suit fit? The traditional two-piece suit is the standard. With a well-cut jacket, matching trousers and/or skirts, you know you will always look smart.
The right suit can give you confidence, a sense of power and an instant polish. It is dependable for work - always appropriate, easy to wear and non-nonsense. There is a suit to flatter everyone. Stick to these followng rules and you can’t go wrong.
Are you curvy?
A straight skirt and jacket offer a flattering fit. Avoid full or pleated skirts as they will only add bulk. Well-cut pieces that are close to the body — but not tight — are more complementary than boxy styles
Are you plus size?
You will always look good in sleek streamlined suits. Your jacket should be tailored and trim and hit at the hips. Straight pants that hit the bottom of your heel look best. Dark colours are flattering but bright blouses or bold accessories can easily perk up a basic suit.
Boyish figure?
It is important to emphasise the waist and create curves, therefore a slight cropped jacket looks best. Pair it with a figure-enhancing pencil skirt that comes to the knee. Alternatively, try mixing a solid colour with a textured fabric such as tweed.
Petite?
Stick to slim cuts as anything big, boxy or oversize will overwhelm. Stay away from big-shouldered, long jackets and try pieces that are more fitted. Choose skirts that hit the knee or an inch above or below — not longer.
Pregnant?
Just because you are carring a child does not mean that you cannot have a streamlined silhouette. A single-button blaze that closes just under the bust is flattering, while an A-line skirt might be the most comfortable.
